Sid 20091118 SW release notes
Changes
- Tray
Icon now supports hover status.
- Status
app consumable alerts now in sync with firmware.
- Status
app string updates.
- Status
app bitmaps and icons updated to Sid versions.
- Status
app no longer momentarily flashes when PJL updates are received.
Known issues
- Device
settings tab is inactive. Device
settings are not passed down to firmware.
- Power
meter graphic is missing from the device settings.
- Resume
button icon is missing from all alerts.
- In
some cases bitmap object types are incorrectly identified. This may cause a K-only color space
conversion to be done instead of a process black conversion and vice
versa.
Uninstall of previous SW versions
The current SW driver does not have an uninstaller. The uninstall process is as follows:
- Make
sure the printer is disconnected or turned off.
- If the
Tray Icon is showing in the system tray right click on the icon and select
“Hide”. This will cause the tray
icon utility to exit so that it can be updated and avoids the need for a
second reboot.
- Open
the “Printers and Faxes” tool from the control panel.
- Delete
all instances of the Sid, CP1025 and CP1025nw printers.
- In the
“Printers and Faxes” window click on File->Server Properties.
- Select
the Driver tab of the Print Server Properties dialog, highlight the “HP
Sid” driver and click the remove button.
If notified that the driver cannot be removed because it is in use
stop and re-start the spooler by typing “net stop spooler” followed by
“net start spooler” on the command line.
Then try the remove again.
- Also
remove any instances of the CP1025 and CP1025nw printers from the Print
Server Properties dialog.
- Remove
old instances of the .inf files by:
- Search
the .inf directory for oem*.inf files containing
1025. Open and verify that the .inf
is indeed a Sid .inf. If it is
then delete the .inf and the corresponding .pnf files.
- Reboot
(sorry about that).
- Start
a command prompt and change into your windows directory and from the
windows directory execute the following commands:
- net stop spooler
- del hpcp1020*.* /s
- net start spooler
Install of current SW version
The current driver must be installed through a Plug and Play
install process. It will install only
the printer driver.
- Connect
the printer to the PC and power it on.
Wait for the PnP prompts to start.
You will first be prompted to install the LEDM driver followed by
the Printer Driver.
- LEDM
Install
- When
the LEDM PnP Prompt occurs do not allow the installer to search for
drivers at Windows Update.
- At
the next screen select “Install from a list or specific location”. Click next.
- At
the next screen click the Browse button and select the Sid_20091118\bulkiodrv directory.
- Click
next and if warned that the SW is not signed click the “Continue Anyway”
button.
- Point
the installer at the driver directory, select the hppadm14_for_sid.inf. file and continue.
- Once
the LEDM PnP install is complete there is a manual step that must be
performed before HP’s test application will work. Marvell assumes that this step will be
taken care of by the HP installer team in the future. The step is to edit a registry
key. Open regedit.exe and locate
the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\DeviceClasses\{211cd2c1-a63e-4164-9e17-fda3fe1f79ff}\##?#USB#Vid_03f0&Pid_0b2a&MI_01#6&2732edb4&0&0001#{211cd2c1-a63e-4164-9e17-fda3fe1f79ff}\#\Device
Parameters\Portname
The portion highlighted in orange
is created during the install, the part in red might vary from printer to
printer – Marvell is not sure what those numbers are referring to. The
part in black has to be added manually. The value for Portname can be
anything – typically it is the USB port number assigned to your print driver
during install. The key is that the value in the registry matches the
value used in HP’s test application (this value is configurable).
