Install Notes
The CD that ships with your product includes software for the following operating systems:

Note: Administrator privileges are required to install the printing system.
Note: Some of the models of this product series do not support HP Smart Install.
INSTALLING SOFTWARE ON WINDOWS WITH HP SMART INSTALL - RECOMMENDED INSTALL METHOD
| Plug a USB cable into the computer and printer. |
| The HP Smart Install program should run automatically. If the HP Smart Install program has not started after 30 seconds, complete steps 3 through 5. |
| Select Run from the Start menu on your taskbar. |
| Click browse. A new CDROM drive named HP Smart Install will be available. Browse to this drive. |
| Select the SISetup.EXE file, click Open, and then click OK. |
| Follow the prompts. |
INSTALLING SOFTWARE USING HP SMART INSTALL OVER THE NETWORK
| From a web browser, type the IP address for the device in the address line of the browser. |
| Click on the HP Smart Install Tab. |
| Click the Download button. |
| Follow the prompts. |
INSTALLING SOFTWARE ON WINDOWS WITH CDROM
| Do not plug the USB cable into the computer system. |
| Close all programs. |
| Insert the CD-ROM. |
| If the HP printing system installer program has not started after 30 seconds, complete steps 5 through 7. |
| Select Run from the Start menu on your taskbar. |
| Browse to the root directory on the CD-ROM drive. |
| Select the Setup.EXE file, click Open, and then click OK. |
| Follow the prompts. |
DISABLE HP SMART INSTALL ON NETWORK PRODUCTS
HP Smart Install can be disabled on network printers if required by the administrator.
| From a web browser, type the IP address for the device in the address line of the browser. |
| Click on the System Tab. |
| Click on the System Setup Menu. |
| To disable HP Smart Install over USB, set the Enable USB HP Smart Install option to No. |
| To disable HP Smart Install over Network, set the Show HP Smart Install download option to No. |
| From the Start menu, select All Programs, and then click HP. If you have more than one HP product, choose the specific product and then click Uninstall from the program group. |
| Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the software uninstall. |
III. LATE-BREAKING INFORMATION
| Firewall software can interfere with the HP software installer. Disable the firewall before starting a network installation or the product might not be detected. |
| If the product is not detected during software installation, check the following: |

Verify that your cable is USB 2.0 high-speed compliant. |
|
|
Verify that the product is turned on. The product will not be discovered by the software if the power is off. |
|
|
Ensure that your USB cable is no more than 5 m (16.4 ft) in length. |
|
|
Verify that the USB port is enabled. Some computers ship with disabled USB ports. |
|
|
Verify the network cable is connected securely to the back of the printer. |
